Profiling Muslims versus Civil-rights. Or, Koranic teachings and the Ft. Hood “massacare.”

Hood massacare and the need for Muslim profiling | Tags: Profiling Islam and Civil Rights Leave a comment »The shooting at the Fort Hood Texas was a regrettable incident, one caused by an individual who was clearly not mentally stable. The fact that the shooter was a practicing Muslim, however, brings to the forefront the question of Koranic teaching versus civil-rights.
The Koran instructs followers of Allah to convert to Islam, or destroy, all infidels. How can a person who accepts the Koran as divine instructions, allow infidels to exist and prosper, without taking action?
The shooter at Fort Hood massacre is a good example, an example of why Muslims should be more closely scrutinized when dealing with public safety in the United States. One may call this type of behavior “profiling,” but under any name, it is the prudent thing to do!
The Ft. Hood incident should be viewed as a trigger for law-enforcement to start formally looking more closely at practicing Muslims when dealing with public safety, notwithstanding Civil Rights considerations. Are twelve (and perhaps more) American lives at Ft. Hood not enough to put Muslims in America under closer scrutiny than other groups are subjected to?
Please note, should profiling become an authorized law enforcement procedure. care should be taken to do so in a legal, civil, and sensitive manner. Those being profiled should be checked in a dignified manner. It should be made clear to those singled out that this is not a personal issue, but rather that the United States needs to keep its people as safe as possible, and that profiling is an effective and proven method. It must also be made clear that as part of protecting its people US law enforcement must use all tools available to it, including, but not limited to, statists regarding historical action by members of groups, be they social, academic, or religious. And, while there is tension between much of the Islamic world and the West, and at a time when most acts of terror are committed by Muslims, it is prudent to scrutinize Muslim more closely than members of most other groups.
